Credit Card Offers Galore
June 13th 2008 02:24
It used to be that every day when I went out to my mailbox, I could count on two or more credit card offers to be there. They offered everything from 0% APR’s to special gifts when I sent in my application. I could get a low interest rate offers for the first 90 days or six months. It would drive me crazy to see how many companies had decided to send me a preapproved offer.
To counter this, I sent a little note to all three national credit bureaus telling them to not give out my information. Suddenly, I went from multiple offers each day to zero. That’s right. I don’t see any in the mailbox anymore. It’s a wonderful thing. My shredder is actually breathing easier.
However, for some reason I still get offers for a mortgage refinance which would get me a lower rate. Every time I think I have beaten the offers, there’s something new showing up.
Now, when I get a call about an offer, which is really annoying, I don’t even listen to the telemarketer. This first words out of my mouth are no thanks and don’t call me again. I have had telemarketers try to finish their dialogue, but that’s ok, I set the phone down on the table and ignore them or I hang up.
If I’m in the market for a new credit card, I may consider a credit card offer that I receive in the mail. Chances are, though, I am going to do my own search for the best rate to meet my needs. And don't even bother calling me, because I absolutely will not consider an offer from someone that calls me.
